Is Telemedicine Right for You? What Texans Should Know Before Booking a Video Visit

Luckycharm Care Team·4 min read

Telemedicine went from a novelty to a normal part of healthcare fast — but it’s still not always clear when it’s actually the right choice versus when you should come in person. Here’s how to think about it.

What You Need on Your End

  • A device with a camera — phone, tablet, or computer
  • A reasonably stable internet connection
  • A private, quiet place to talk
  • Nothing else — no special software or account setup for the visit itself

What Telemedicine Handles Well

Follow-up appointments, medication management, many acute issues like colds and sinus infections, mental health check-ins, and reviewing lab results all work well over video. If you already have an established relationship with your provider, a lot of ongoing care doesn’t actually require being in the room.

When You Should Come In Instead

Anything that requires a physical exam — listening to your lungs, checking a wound, palpating an area of pain — needs an in-person visit. If you’re not sure which category your issue falls into, that’s a completely reasonable thing to ask when you call to schedule.

Availability Across Texas

Because telemedicine isn’t limited by drive time, we’re able to see patients anywhere in Texas for a video visit — not just Longview and the surrounding area. That’s particularly useful for established patients who’ve moved, or anyone balancing care with a schedule that makes an in-person trip harder.

How to Book

Video visits are booked the same way as in-person ones — online or by phone. If it turns out your issue needs a hands-on exam after all, we’ll let you know and get you scheduled in-office instead.
